Meet The Owner: Coach Derek Ross:

Born and raised in Durham, NC - Coach Ross developed a love for the game of basketball at a very young age. Being the son of a high school basketball coach, Coach Ross has been around the game of basketball his entire life. He is a graduate of Southern Durham High School, where he played alongside and against current and former professional players. Coach Ross received his Bachelors Degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Mount Olive.  A few years after college, he played a pivotal role in the creation of a Non profit organization, where he served as Director of Basketball Operations, from 2011 - 2018. Coach Ross served as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Shepard Middle School from 2017-2018, where he led the team to the Middle School Playoff Semifinals, finishing the season with a 10-4 record and 3rd place in the conference. In 2018, Coach Ross returned back to Southern High School and served as the Head JV Boys basketball Coach, where he led the team to a 12-6 record, finishing 2nd place in the conference. The 2019 -2020 School Basketball season, Coach Ross served in an Assistant Coach role at Voyager Middle School, where he helped lead the team to a 16-1 record and conference championship. For the 2020 - 2021 Basketball season, Coach Ross served as the Skills Development Coach and Lead Assistant for Jordan High School Varsity Girls team, helping lead the team to a 10-3 record, 2nd place in the conference standings, and the second round of the NCHSAA state playoffs. Currently, Coach Ross is the Head Men's Varsity Coach at Jordan High School. In his first year as Head Coach, Coach Ross led the team to a 23-4 record, 1st place in the DAC VII conference, a conference tournament championship, and the 3rd round of the NCHSAA state playoffs. In his second season as Head Coach, Coach Ross led the Falcons to a 21-10 record, back-to-back 20 win seasons and 1st place in the DAC VII conference. The 2022-2023 season ended with the Falcons making history, making it to the 4th round - Elite 8 of the NCHSAA state playoffs since 2005.  Since 2011, Coach Ross has coached and trained over 1,200 athletes, ranging in skill level from Elementary to Professional.

Coach Ross developed Hoops Domain when he realized the need for competitive, elite-comprehensive basketball training, and player exposure opportunities in the Durham, NC area. It is his goal to help all players realize their basketball dreams, while also building lasting and rewarding relationships.
